Ensure safe loading, unloading and transportation of MEWPs
TThe IPAF accident reporting database has proven that the loading and unloading of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) has associated accident / incident risk. Approximately a 3rd of the accidents recorded by rental companies involve MEWP delivery drivers. Manlift is focusing on this area to raise awareness of the need for further training and safety initiatives.
What will you learn ?
Candidates will be not only aware of accident prevention and control measures. But also learn about the relevant health and safety legislation. Finally, candidates will be able to safely load, unload and secure different types of machinery onto the body of a suitable vehicle ready for transportation legally on the public highway.
Who should attend?
All applicants must have completed a recognized operator’s course. And should hold a valid Operator license for the relevant categories of plant (e.g. MEWP, forklift, dumper). OR the employer must provide written evidence of competency of plant operation before starting the course. Application should also hold current driving license for the type of vehicle to be loaded or the employer must provide written evidence of the candidate’s familiarization with the vehicle.
Load and Unload Training Course Outline
- Ensure the safe loading, unloading, and securing of MEWP onto a suitable vehicle using the appropriate equipment for transportation on public highways.
- Establish connections between work methods and legal requirements.
- Identify potential hazards and implement effective control measures to prevent accidents.
Instructors should hold a PAL card for the relevant type of plant. IPAF LOAD category on their instructor license and ideally hold a driving license of the type of vehicle to be loaded. After successful completion of the course, Manlift will issue an Operator card with load and unload category added to your license. Contact us for more information.
